The Rose Show
The Colchester Rose Show was Colchester's premier annual event for over 100 years. The event was last seen in the 1980's when it moved from castle Park to By-pass Nurseries. The Colchester Rose and Horticultural Society in partnership with Quinntessential the organizers of the Colchester Food and Drink Festival have now brought the Rose Show home to Castle Park and revived the event.
The Rose Show runs alongside the Colchester Food and Drink Festival and your admittance ticket covers you for both events. Admittance £3 adults £2 OAPs, children under 12 free.
In 2008 the Rose and Horticultural Show will be joined by a new flower and garden show doubling its size and creating a wonderful sight in Colchester’s beautiful Castle Park. There will be lots of stalls and sites for people to sell everything for the garden.
The new Show allows anyone to enter and its emphasis is more on the amateur than the professional. The Rose Society has a huge wealth of wonderful silver cups and plates which it awards as annual prizes. You can be a winner!
It will be held in Lower Castle Park on 28th and 29th June 2008. There are over 40 classes to enter and you can win prizes of up to £50.00 along with trophies & tickets to Party in the Park.
